TATOU Apron Dress
Inspired by tatougami, the traditional paper used to store and protect kimono, the TATOU Apron Dress reimagines the functional beauty of Japanese craftsmanship for contemporary living.
Its overlapping front skirt panels create a distinctive silhouette while allowing ease of movement and exceptional comfort. The drawcord-adjustable elastic straps at the back not only allow the overall length to be customized but also create soft gathers that add a modern design accent.
The intentionally wide shoulder straps provide greater coverage, helping to protect clothing while working.
Crafted from modacrylic fiber with inherent flame-resistant properties, the fabric carbonizes and self-extinguishes when exposed to flame, helping to prevent the spread of fire and offering an added layer of protection during everyday use.
The crossed wide straps and overlapping pleated skirt evoke the silhouette of traditional Japanese hakama workwear. Thoughtful details―including spacious patch pockets and loops for hanging kitchen towels―provide everyday functionality, while its refined design makes it equally suitable for a quick trip to the market or an afternoon out.
